Best Luggage Scales

Updated October 23, 2026

We reviewed luggage scales across weight capacity, display readability, handle design, battery setup, and how easy they are to use before an airport bag drop. The strongest picks give repeatable readings near the airline limit, pack small enough to stay in a carry-on, and make the number easy to read while the bag is still hanging.

The overlooked detail is the handle and strap design. A scale can advertise the same 110-pound capacity as every other model, but a cramped grip, tiny hook, or flexible strap makes it harder to lift a full suitcase steadily. That matters because unstable lifting is when readings jump and travelers start second-guessing whether a checked bag is really under the limit.

Decide first whether you want a simple travel scale, a two-pack for multiple bags, or a heavier fish-scale style model with a tape measure. Most flyers should choose a compact digital scale with a backlit display. Manual scales and ultra-cheap new listings can work, but they demand more tolerance for slower readings and less brand history.
