Weight selection follows the general guideline of 10% of body weight plus or minus a pound or two. A 150 lb person typically finds a 15 lb blanket comfortable. Too light produces minimal calming effect; too heavy creates difficulty moving and can feel uncomfortable rather than calming. Couples sharing a weighted blanket often have different weight preferences -- individual throws are more practical than shared blankets unless you share a weight preference.

Fill material determines the flatness and distribution quality. Glass micro-beads are denser than plastic pellets, producing a blanket that lies flatter and distributes weight more evenly across the surface. Plastic pellets produce a slightly bumpy texture and distribute weight with more variance across sections. For premium construction, glass beads are the better fill material.
