Smart locks control physical access to your home. If the lock malfunctions -- fails to unlock, fails to secure, loses connectivity -- the consequences are more serious than a broken blender. Very few buyers have bought this lock so far, and a buyer base that small cannot reveal rare failure modes that would show up across a large one. Apple HomeKey is a genuinely useful feature that simplifies entry for iPhone and Apple Watch users. But that feature is not worth the risk of installing a security device with so little buyer history on a front door. We will revisit this pick once Lockly has a much larger buyer base.
