Everything depends on your wiring. Ring requires a 16 or 24 volt AC doorbell transformer rated 10 to 40 VA, with 30 to 40 VA recommended, and says halogen or garden-lighting transformers will not work; otherwise you need a Ring plug-in adapter or transformer sold separately.
